William Figures Lewis (1819-1910), was the son of Ann Harrison (1775-1843) and Exum (1771-1839) Lewis II of Edgecombe County, NC. Lewis entered the University in 1838, joined the Philanthropic Society, and graduated with second honors in 1842. He returned to the family plantation, Mount Prospect, which he operated until his death. In 1872 he married Ann Eliza Barlow Foxall.
